Default 1000ci Motor?

We were having a discussion in the lounge about it. According to the guy who saw it, they had an engine on Horsepower Tv that was 1000 cubic inches. I figured I would post it here and see if any of you guys would know anymore about this engine? Here is a link to the thread: https://ls1tech.com/forums/racer-s-lounge/246223-holy-shit-1000-ci-motor-hp-tv-now.html

Please if anyone knows anything about this motor please chime in.

Well, with so many 815 cid motors showing up, I have no doubt that a 1000 cid motor it either out there today, or will be available in a year or two.

I saw the episode. it is around 800ci and can be bored to 1000ci. It was designed for boat racing. Check the horsepower website, they may have something on it. Imagine over a thousand hp on an extremely streetable engine. only had like 9.5:1 compression. Imagine the power it would make with 12:1.

You can make over 800hp pump gas with a low 500 cube bbc. With a 1000 cubes, I bet you could make 1400+! That's crazy! Aluminum block and it probably wouldn't be much heavier than a standard BS iron bbc.

I checked the site, they just had shitty episode info with no mention about the motor.

I'm making 1344 with my 622, so a 1000 cid would make 1600?

don't know about max power for a race fuel ingesting motor, but before i decided to go with what i've got, i called Fast Times about a 588 motor on about 9.5 to 1 cr and pump gas that makes 950 hp!!! even more with a vaccuum pump.

later,
Dave

I meant pumpgas my bad. 1344 w/ a 622 is NICE! Ever think about hooking up a little spray and seeing what she has in her?

Oh, yea. I constantly toy with the idea of adding a little spray, particularly up here where we race at 8000 DA. It should run 7.50s up here, n/a, and 7.10 to 7.20 at 2000 DA this year, so if I could catch a 0 DA day, say at the February Super Bowl in Houston, it might accidentally run 6.9X n/a.

But here's the catch: Lloyds insures the car on the race track at 7.00 and above, not in the 6s. So I'm currently using 7.00 as the floor for the car.

With that much time and money into the car that is prolly the best decision! I can't imagine going bottom seven's n/a. Must be pretty damn cool!

I wonder how much it would weigh. If aluminum could even take that much abuse from racing...

I haven't made it out to a Pro-Stock Superbowl event yet? How big are they?

I love Power-Boat motors. At Owens we've done everything from Mercruiser SC1000's to 600+inch Donovan Blocked, All-Aluminum, 1,500HP Rat Motors.

We just finished up two motors for a customer named Richard Monicle. They're 632's with 1471 blowers on them. They make about 1,400HP each. He probably spent about 120k on them. They're going in his SCARAB sometime in the next month. He claims he's going to go flying across Clear Lake at 170MPH, and with 2,800HP on tap, I'll bet he get's pretty close. The really scary part is that these are just stand-in motors until we finish up his 'real' motors.

All of the Pro Stock and most of the Pro Mod guys will show up. We might enter our car in Pro Mod just to make some test runs.

dont put down the iron blocks. a decent "mildly" built 496 stroker can put down 1000ft/lbs ina street car

Stand "bs" was referring to the stand bore space big blocks, not some crazy huge bore space mountain motor or what not. No BullShittin' w/ those bbc's.
