Cam selection

Cam selection what would be the right cam specs fora cam to go in a 383 with 10-10.5 compression, 195cc heads, anda 3.90 rear? this will all go through a tko600.

depends. If you want to run a roller (solid or hydraulic) I'd go at least .560 on the lift, and about .15-.30 less with a sloid cam. I run a .518/.536 lift 224/232 sloid cam in my Nova with an 11:1 383 with 197 cc heads, 3.73 gears and auto. works fine and pulls to 6400 rpms. You can overcam a stock car a little more because of the clutch work and not having a convertor to worry about dragging it down.

are they stock heads/ aftermarket? figure out what they flow, no use in putting a bigger lift if the flow stops before. also the weight of the car, manual/auto/converter size, all plays a part.
