The angle the valve is in relation to the deck. 23* is stock. 18* flows better, but usually requires special parts.

i know my 18* Dart heads also have raised runners which improve flow. plus i think 18* heads allow for much larger valves. my valve sizes are 2.15I/1.625E. and i do remember reading up on some Brodix heads that are 18* but accept 23* valve train. not bad, but i dont know exactly how they do it or if there are any limitations on flow caused by it. but they should still flow very well and out do 23* heads with the same amount of work.

do you still have to use an intake setup for 18* heads? if not, that may be another plus.

later,
Dave

Make sure you really check piston to valve clearances when going from 23 degree head to a 18 degree head like was mentioned a few replies before bigger valves and most sbc pistons will only accept 2.10s without a little clearance work. Good luck 18 degree is the way to go.
