tuning a holley 4150
tuning a holley 4150 Ok heres my problem....if it just mash the pedal it like chokes it self kinda like stumbles then takes off....should i buy the accelle pump cams and mess around with them or try something else first?

Normally, I start with the squirter, if you have any kind of motor the factory sq. are too small.
On my 421 we had 42s.
Usually the cams will not need tuning, unless you feel they react too slow, but it normally will be fixed with the sq.

your stumble could be from not enough timing or lean carb jetting also. Unless you have the bigger 50cc accelerator pumps dont go too crazy with the squirter size. Unless its a pretty radical setup 31-35s should do OK if everything else is right on a street car.

Total timing should be set at whatever RPM you want to have all your timing in it, 3000 RPM is usually a good RPM to set at with a bbc. If it has a stumble when you mash it the secondaries could be not opening right away,or too soon.I would check your timing make sure you got it where you want it then start messing with jets and squirters.
