can a cnc head still be ported

Sure, but why would you want to spend the extra cash for a cnc head, then pay someone to hand work it?
Why not get a basic head and then have them ported? At least from my experience, a cnc head is usually pretty nice, and there is prolly not alot left there. Not to mention the consistency a machine can do, compared to a human hand.
Remember, depending on your situation, a bigger port is not always more productive, say a blower, they seem to like a smaller port as it really helps velocity. With nos, it depends on the cam and how much you're spraying it.

Yes, and that is how most of the heads making big power are done. All a cnc head does is try and mimic a perfect hand ported one through a computer program. the advantage is it can do it repeatedly 100's or 1000's of times with only minor variances. But, it is a machine and can not get everywhere. So a killer head will usually start with a CNC program to get the bulk of the work done, and then the qualified porter will go in and hand finish. Now keep in mind, if you go out and buy a CNC ported head and then take it back to you garage and whip out the grinder, chances are you will be screwing it up more than you are helping. Like I said, they try to mimic a perfect hand ported head and the perfect hand ported head is determined by numerous attempts with trips to the flow bench after each change to determine what works best. Remember, just because it looks good, does not mean it will flow good.

This are edelbrock e-tec 200's that I ported more at my shop after the Edelbrock standard CNC in the intake photo you can see how its ridged in the left port,and by smoothing it out and rounding all your edges you will gain a lot..
