Default Introduction and Progress Pics

I guess it's time I finally introduced myself and my car. I bought my 95 z28 as a rolling chassis in November. I've been stock piling parts ever since b/c of school and work, but finally took the week off for spring break and got some work done. I took some progress pics to show the tires we stuffed into the rear fenderwells and the k-member. Hopefully I can get the motor and tranny dropped in within the next week or two.

oh yeah, tires are the new MT ET street radials 325/50/15...took some convincing with the BFH, but they finally went in without rubbing.

What are you using for power?

Also, welcome, nice to have you aboard.

for power i'm just running a 355 for now that i pulled out of my old chevelle before selling it. nothing too wild, just want to be able to drive it around town and take it to the track every once and a while.

Dart Pro 1's with angle plugs 215cc i believe (pacesetter's fit great and plug access looks like it will be fine)
Super Victor intake
Flat-tappet cam around 250@.50 around .550/.550 lift
Mighty Demon
MSD Ignition system
Pacesetter coated LTs for LT1
TH-350 w/ 3800 stall

that's about it, and i'll probably throw my old nitrous kit on there when I finally get it running good N/A.

thanks for the welcome,
Michael

Thanks for the welcome and kind words. It looks like you've got a pretty stout combo in the works. The tires really didn't take too much work to get them to fit without rubbing. Just the usual grinding of the calipers and banging in the fenderwells in a couple of spots. I also trimmed the rear of the wheel wells with the trusty sawzall just for safe measure.

i'm not gonna have to worry about the rubbing. the rear is narrowed, and i've got Strange drag brakes going on, plus it's going to be minitubbed. can't wait to get the building process started, but i've still got some parts to get together.

Yeah i have the bmr k-member with the sbc/bbc motor mounts. it bolted right up for the most part. the only fitment problem i had were the two bolts that the steering rack connects to the k-member. my roommate is doing a similar setup and had the same problem with his bmr k-member. we got them both to fit by drilling out the holes a little bit.

Nice set-up, looks good except for the empty engine bay but I'm sure you'll fix that soon!

Yeah, it bugs me everytime I look at that picture of the empty engine bay . But I think I've figured out a way to get back home on Wednesday between work and school and drop in the engine and tranny though. Hopefully I will have better pictures then. Take it easy guys.

Welcome to the site! I've really enjoyed being a member.

Looks great, I'm doing a similar swap. I got a 94 with no engine or trans and I'm dropping a 385 SBC in it. I'm hoping the car will be delivered this Sunday. I already have the engine built and the trans will be built this week. Instead of the BMR K-member I'm using a front engine plate, it was a left-over part from a previous project.

thanks for the welcome, with a 385 and a motor plate sounds like you have a serious combo in the works. Good luck on getting it up and running quickly.

I'm hoping it'll work pretty good. It also has an NOS Big Shot kit and a dominator. As soon as I get going good on it I'll post some pics.

There are a couple of other threads in the section that deal specifically with the swap. Take a look a few threads down... Most guys on here it appears swap for SBC's, so if that is what you are looking to do you have come to the right place.

Well the motor and tranny are in the car, but that is about all the progress that has been made unfortunately. I have accumulated all of the fuel and ignition systems parts, but they aren't doing the car much good in my living room thanks to work. No pics, but I will try and get some in the near future. Take it easy guys.
