I have a street simple 388 stroker victor jr intake Holley 750 DP carb. 3400 stall Cheap Flat top pistons .60 over Holley Blue Fuel pump MSD 6AL remote timing control variable rev limiter. The heads are currently stock 041 SBC heads with 2.05/1.60 valves. I also have a set of free vortec heads here.

My question is do you guys think I will gain anything by switching from the 041 heads with the larger valves to these vortec heads with a set of 2.02/1.60 valves? I also have a set of angle plug corvette heads 292 castings.

To switch I will have to sell my victor jr and get one for the vortec heads. I see they all cary the same 64cc combustion chambers.

 

I'd guess a solid 20+hp and 20+lb-ft of TQ all over the powerband. Maybe more. The Vortec heads walk all over any stock SBC casting. You have a PM also.

Does anyone know if 205/160 valves will fit on the vortecs? I already have a set. I read all the time about putting 202/160s in them.

Any input would be appreciated.

 

In regards to up-sizing the valve sizes on a VORTEC head.As many heads we sell,and the testing and flow #'s,it really would not benefit you to go as far as going to a 205 int size.We could see the usage of a 1.6 on the exhaust side,and just like the 'NEW vortec bowtie heads,they went to a 2.00 int/1.55exh.Sometimes bigger is not always best.These heads are killer as a 1.94/1.50.Make sure also that if you go bigger than a .450"lift cam,you know you need to machine the guides down and change the springs and ret's!
Cannot go wrong with the vortec heads!!!
