Default 85 camaro

i got a 85 z28 the other day. ive already ditched the stock 305. ive got a 350/turbo350 the im going to put in it. im going with a comp 280h, edelbrock air gap intake, some sort of headers, maybe some roller rockers, and a holley 700 double pumper. my question is should i use the heads that came on the camaro or the heads that came on my 1974 350?

use the ones off the 350 for sure, at least i would anyways..Im running a close set up as your talking about, I have a 350 2 bolt main with a stock bottom end, GM 2.02 heads ported and polished, Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, with a Edelbrock Performer RPM Cam, Procomp 1.6 roller rockers, a holly 750 double pumper and headers. I would think your 350 heads would be better.

I have to agree with 396, use the 350 heads on the 350. The 305 heads are too restrictive on both the intake and the exhaust. They will work, but you would be hindering yourself of any potential gains from the cam and headers.

ive got the motor almost ready to go in the car. i was doing some measuring today and noticed that the 700r4 that i took out the car is about 3 inches longer than the turbo 350 that im putting back in it. am i going to need a different trans crossmember? also i guess my driveshaft will be too short now too. does anyone know for sure if im going to need different stuff? thanks for any help

yes you will need a longer driveshaft,i had an 85 that i put a th350 tranny in and had to modify the crossmember and bought a bracket for the torque arm that bolts to the tranny, but i would check to see if (bmr) might have crossmember and brackets,i know they do for 4 gen camaros
