Default Help with conversion..!!

As in the title, no one really came back with a serious response the last time i posted this, but does anyone know how hard it would be to take out my LT1 in my 1997 Camaro, and replace it with a 572. This is something that i would really like to look into doing in the future, but i don't know what would be needed or how hard it would be to do. So please help?!?!.. I just want to go with something that is one of a kind, or at least around here in Indiana.. Thank you!.. And i am wondering if my T-56 would bolt up, or if i should go with a TH400.. It is right now an M6.. REALLY I JUST WANT SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!

If you aren't building a drag only car i'd steer away from the bbc and go w/sbc combo because of the weight difference and all the other "little things" you'll run into.I am currently in the process of doing just that,a drag only 95z w/572ci bbc and th400,but I also have an 02 Z28 to drive on the street I do realize there are some on here that are running a bbc on the street in these cars,so it all depends on what you yourself wants, just be aware it will take a little more work than simply dropping in a small block.Just my 2cents

I'm doing a BBC, basically cause I want to.
Another combo though that I find interesting is a twin turbo setup from Banks for a smallblock. That would be killer on the street and strip too.

Hello,

It would actually be way more cost effective, to run a Small Block Chevy 350-400 c.i.d. engine. They are easier to integrate into place of the LT1. On another note, they are also cheaper to get mods for, because they are more common than the Big Block is. If you are wanting power/torque and high RPM's, go with the SBC, with the TH400 Transmission. Even a shift kit in the tranny would help out considerably.

If you insist on a Big Block there are several down-falls:

-More Weight added= need to change front suspension to support extra load.
-Bigger Pistons in Big Block= Less RPM's than a Small Block
-Bigger Displacement=More Fuel Used.
-Larger engine=Time consumed trying to stuff it into your car, in very tight places, that are not fun to play around with.

Just my two bits. Thanks.

I've seen a 502 in a 4th gen Camaro. I'm not sure on the size of the 572 block or anything. But I can tell you that my 454 install wasn't that difficult, I just need to go ahead and replace my k-member and I'll be ready to drive it.

Also I wanted to do something that was a little bit of a challenge.
