Help with conversion..!!
I do realize there are some on here that are running a bbc on the street in these cars,so it all depends on what you yourself wants, just be aware it will take a little more work than simply dropping in a small block.Just my 2cents
Hello,
It would actually be way more cost effective, to run a Small Block Chevy 350-400 c.i.d. engine. They are easier to integrate into place of the LT1. On another note, they are also cheaper to get mods for, because they are more common than the Big Block is. If you are wanting power/torque and high RPM's, go with the SBC, with the TH400 Transmission. Even a shift kit in the tranny would help out considerably.
If you insist on a Big Block there are several down-falls:
-More Weight added= need to change front suspension to support extra load.
-Bigger Pistons in Big Block= Less RPM's than a Small Block
-Bigger Displacement=More Fuel Used.
-Larger engine=Time consumed trying to stuff it into your car, in very tight places, that are not fun to play around with.
Just my two bits. Thanks.
Also I wanted to do something that was a little bit of a challenge.
