Default Cooling for 95 Z with BBC

I'm about to order me a radiator. I wouldn't mind getting one of those radiators used in the turbo setups. The ones that stands up straight instead of leaning towards the engine. I know you have to cut out some to make those work. If anyone knows where to get those let me know.

Also my other choice is just buy a radiator and place it in stock location. I wouldn't mind the turbo style radiator just for more room. But my question is would a 26x19" overall & 20x17.5" core radiator with 2 row 1" cores be enough to cool my 454?

I am going to use the Summit universal 31"x19" two-row radiator on mine. Why? you ask...I have it laying around from a previous project. I think it is the same size as the stock radiator except thicker.

How good was the stock LT1 radiator/fan setup doing? I would think a Griffin/BeCool replacement radiator with the stock fans should do the trick, but I don't know. Look at truck radiators and how big they are, I think in general they are about the same size, maybe just thicker, not sure.

I've got a truck 454 radiator and its too huge. I'd have to cut 2" on each side of the frame rails. As far as the LT-1 radiator I got rid of it because of all the other connections on it. I just wanted to go with a different one for a cleaner engine compartment.

What truck did it come out of? I didn't think that they were that much bigger.

I came out of a 1 ton Chevy truck. I think it was an older truck though and that may be why its so much bigger.

put some plugs in the LT1 radiator.

the SLP "upgraded LS1 radiator" is just an LT1 radiator.

I have an lt1 radiator on my 383 and it doesnt seem to keep up in temps above 70. With high flow water pump, 160 deg thermostat and the lt1 radiator i run at about 200 deg when its about 70 outside.

Yeah, I would stay away from an LT1 radiator. I think they are a little small for a conventional system. With a reverse flow and being able to stay in the radiator longer and also going to the heads first. Conventional flow hits the hottest part last and also gets pushed pretty fast through the radiator.
