383 crank question

383 crank question I dont know a lot about engines so here is a question for the ones that do...
I need to buy a 3.75" crank...but dont know exactly how long are my rods...do to the fact that i bought the 383 stroker used...
So the question is...If i buy a crank that says for 5.7" rods or longer...so this means that if my rods are 6" it should work?.......
So why do they have another crank that says for 6.0" rods or longer....?
would the first crank i mention work with a 5.7" rod?
Please help...need to buy the crank as soon as posible.

Any 3.75 crank can be used with any rod if the piston has the correct pin location and the rotating assembly is properly balanced.

The compression height on the piston must work with the stroke and rod length. If the rod is shorter than the comp height is higher if the rod length is longer than the comp height is shorter. Sounds like you need to do some messuring before you go any further and find out what the parts you have now really measure. Just trying to help get it right the first time without locking things up. 1st, the cranks are listed as 5.7 or 6.0 rods because of the counter weight.
It tells you what rod will clear.
You can never assume anything. The crank, the rod, the piston & the deck must be checked by someone before you buy anything.
I would not gamble with a cast piston on N2O. The rods are iffy at that level also,
get them mag'd and new bolts at a minimum.
