Just curious how much power a 400 small block crank that's had the main diameter turned down can handle. How much power did your motor go on a dyno? If the rest of the assembly is up to the task can it go 550? more?

yes it can go there but for how long? its a ticking gernade. Just save up some cabage and buy a nice scat crank they are dirt cheap and really nice for the money. If you would have put the money that you used to cut your 400 you would have had close to half the money allready

i have seen them hold 600hp several times but personally i wouldn't do it. i would invest in a scat 9000 cast steel crank. they are very good for the money and will hold that kind of power all day long. they cost around $200 mabe

Maybe I should have given you guys an application? This is a street/strip motor.
This is a very budget build also. Can those Scat/Eagle cast steel cranks hold 600 hp @ 6200-6300 RPM? That's with a 3.75" stroke, 6" rod, and heavy forged piston in a solid lifter motor.
