Default Does anyone make a solid motor mount k-member?

Hey everyone, I'm slowly gathering parts for my sbc swap and was wondering if anyone makes a sbc swap k-member with solid mounts? I know going motor plate is the best option for stiffness, but i'm not sure if I want to go that far just yet.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

umi and spohn didn't list swap k members. BMR's uses a poly mount. I was also concerned with BMR's in that it only has one stud on each mount holding it to the k member. (hope I explained that well enough)

BMR's has the poly mounts sandwiched between the mount and the kmember. Whats to say you couldnt remove the poly and add a large washer?

BMR actually supplies 2 "extra" large washers in the kit if you want to do that.

Sorry, meant to say extra. I got 4 in my kit, 2 I use under the bushings on the bottom the other two are sitting on the shelf.

I used the washers on underside bushings, so your not running a nut into the poly, likewise, i would just use washers for a solid mount setup,

The thought of just running without the poly bushings had crossed my mind. What diameter are those studs at the end of each mount "post" or whatever you'd call it? Just dont want to snap anything off. Motor would be a 550 hp N/A 406.

Why not just put the poly bushings in there? Your teeth will thanks you. Besides it not like the weigh alot or anything.

Personally I would run the bushings, no real gain by not running them. If it were me and I was set on making it a solid mount without a plate, I would weld them to the k-member instead of messing with the nut and washers.

to that idea. I wouldn't go solid mounts on a k-member, but that sounds like the best solution if he's set on it.

This is the same motor I ran in my third gen with solids and I didn't think it was that bad.

Not saying there is anything wrong with it, just don't see the upside to running solid as opposed to the poly that comes with the kit.

I'd just prefer to have everything tied down good and tight. This will be for a drag car that will see some street time rather than a street car seeing some drag time. I'll be launching off a t-brake and two step, so there will be a pretty decent amount of shock in the drive train.

Maybe motor plate will end up being the way I need to go.

Depending on cam and idle speed, a solid mount is nuts on the street, if you want an idea sit in your car and have a buddy shake you by the shoulders... thats a solid mount for ya!! I will be using plates but keeping the polys in. Id liek to get the body to twis up with the motor and all just not vibrate real bad.

Like I said, I've done 3 years with solids in the third gen and didn't think it was that bad. Just looking for a solid mount k member.

With it being pretty much a drag car you can't go wrong either way. Weld em up, using washers and nuts, or a motor plate are all options for ya, but as far as I know there isn't a kiy already out there for what you want. Have you checked with all the vendors? AJE, UMI, Sphon, and there is another one I can't remember right now, it might come to me later.

I did some more looking around and found that PA racing can make a solid mount k member. So it looks like I'll be going with them. Their prices seem pretty decent too, $540 for a chromoly k member when BMR's is $500 for mild steel.
