When are long slot rockers needed?

When are long slot rockers needed? I'm putting in a .540 lift cam in the 454 I got to go in my boat. After what lift do you need to change out the stock rockers?

Ran a .575 hydrulic about 20 years ago with stock rockers. No problems, but the used stock springs didn't last very long, but nothing hit. Good luck.
