Roots type in a 3rd gen

Default Roots type in a 3rd gen

I have an 86 iroc i just put a 360cu.in forged bottom end. Im going to get some times in it then im putting it back under the knife. For some heads, a fuel cell, and an intake and carb (or a roots blower since it comes with an intake.) i was thinking procharger but its over played i wanna do a diff route around my area. Has anyone done a roots type on a turd gen car? DO i have to cut at all?

Oh yeah your gonna need to be choppin that hood like a mother what size are you going to go with?

A 6 would be good for a mild HP level, if it's a killer drag only than maybe an 8.

There is no way to get any roots under a hood.

I'm going with a pro-charger when I ever get around to my next project, don't blow it off so quick, it is the latest technology, and works great.

When it comes to looks back in the EARLY 90's I saw a hot pink 90-92 Z with a chrome roots coming out of the hood. The collor looked great (really it did) and so did the blower.

I am NOT a fan of blowers like prochargers with carbs but the look of a roots coming out of the hood can't be beat.

You also need to take into consideration that from the factory the engine in a 3rd gen is off center, it is offset rougly 2-3'' toward the pass. side. So the blower would not be in the center of the hood
