Valve Cover Gasket Basic question here. I just want to know which would be better, or if it doesn't really matter. For the valve cover gasket, which is better to use, RUBBER OR CORK?

I was just curious. I bought Felcro. Felcro has cork and rubber. My friend made it seem like our knowledgable car friends said to go with rubber. The guy @ the store said cork is best. I originally bought rubber, but I swapped them out for cork since the ones on my covers were already cork.

I've used rubber with steel core only for 7-8 years now, best thing that ever happened to valve cover gaskets. My valve covers have been on & off 1000 times, still have same gaskets. Have a set on every motor, never replaced one yet.
