That would be great if you could get one for free. That would be at least a free block and there is nothing wrong with a 454, you don't have to stroke it to reach your goals. Actually a stroker will just give you way more torque than you really need. A lot of people can't hook a BBC that well anyway cause of the low end grunt off the line.

My 83 has run 10.46@136 spinning the tires on what he remembers was a 300 shot. Fairly stock rear suspension.
Off the shelf Dart intake, off the shelf aluminum bow tie heads, and a pretty restrective air cleaner.
I plan to have everything ported out and do the suspension. Who knows what it will run. Its so choked out that it droped like a second on the bottle. It may have only been one stage. Who knows, last time it was raced by the previous owner was like 1995! Just an idea of what you can get out of a little old 468 and a REAL BG carb

thanks man I already did and I got alot of answers
http://www.thirdgen.org/techboard/en...0hp-combo.html
the reason why I'm asking about headers because there are different types of headers for this swap I just want to know which one JUICED96Z is using
I'll go with hooker super competition headers but I heared that they are not good for drag racing application

Headers are custom from what I can tell, the entire exhaust is one off. It has two 2.5 inch pipes that run off each primary nack to the straigh threw mufflers.
On the passenger side one of the tubes has about a quarter inch clearance to the wheel well. Other side has a dent in one for the steering shaft thing (sorry really tired)
With the BBC in it get longer batter cables if you plan to you an aftermarket batter like an optima. The factory negative I think it is will strech so much that it almost touches the header.
In the future I plan to have some better headers custom made. These look a lot like hookers but towards the collectors they push out towards the side of the car. Don't hut the engine and tranny like 4th gens do. Maybe this is normal.
I will find out the header size and all next time I am over were the car is located.
TRUST ME ON THIS. SPEND THE MONEY FOR CUSTOM MADE HEADERS WITH A BBC IN THERE!!!!!!!!!!
Cover up the wheel wells and and all good and tape everything off, its a tight fit
Ill try and get pics in the near future.

Ed Quay sells real nice headers for 3rd Gen's with BBC's. They will cost around half what a custom built set runs. Quay makes 2-1/8, 2-1/4 & 2-3/8 sizes. I have a set of Quay 2-1/8 stepped to 2-1/4 with a 4" collector on my BBC 3rd Gen.

GM .030 over 454 LS7 4 bolt main block (BBC not the new SB LSX)
GM LS6 factory steel crank
Power Detroit Steel billet rods (rod broke in less than 200 passes)(think there called Howard's now sold by competition products)
Wiseco 13.5 pistons
Dart Pro1 310's port match and mild clean up only, milled to 110cc
Edelbrock Victor 454R + 1" spacer
Crane Roller Cam .714 lift 266-274 dur 108 ls (I don't believe in N20 cams inless your spraying 400+)
Crane gold rockers and stud girdle
Old Style Barry Grant 1050 Dominator (flowing 1140)
NOS Big Shot kit .087 N20 .096 fuel jet (around 250 HP)
The car weighed 3260 with me in it then. Had a JW 4600 convertor and JW Ultra Glide
It ran a best of 6.38 @ 110 1/8 mile and 9.97 @ 138 1/4 mile.
with 250 shot it ran best 5.54 @ 126 1/8 and 8.83 @ 152 1/4 mile
It ran 10.0's all day on the motor, I normally only run nitrous 1/8 mile, it ran 5.60's most of the time.

Thanks for sharing your specs its much appriciated!!!
Its not the first time I heard of those billets breaking in half. Ironically I believe everysingle one that I heard broke did infact break between 175-225 passes.
P.S do you have any bbc parts laying around?
