Looking good mrdragster, good luck. I know all about family health problems, I just made it back to the track the last two weekends after a year off. I only made it out a fews times last year. Car ran almost exactly the same 9.0's and teens. No n/a 8 seconds passes till I find some more HP.

Thanks guys. My wife said I have been making engine sounds for the last week in my sleep.
So you know how bad I miss my toys. We moved her father to the rehab center today.
So I missed 2 days of working on car, getting that set up & done. Still hope to be ready this W/E & test next week.
Family 1st, of course.

G&H, HP or weight will get you an 8. Have you been a good boy?? sneaking any donuts???
Good luck & be safe.

Some quick shots, car is back from chassis shop. New oil pump should be here Wed. or Thur.
Waiting on some odd fittings that no one stocks. Everything else is here, picked up box of stuff today
& just waiting on me to install. Crew chief gets back from vacation Sat. So I better get this thing ready,
before he kicks my butt. Was shooting for next Sun, but some quick guys are trying to get me to come out Sat.
Not a big fan of testing fast cars at night!!

Ok, couldn't figure out which photo's to post, so I posted all of them.

Default Ticks 97 firebird street 600 c.i.d BBC

I have ben working on my project for 3 years i'm building a 600 c.i.d BBC street motor for my 97 firebird it will not see a lot of street time. But i wont to drive it to the car wash and to the local drag strip when i wont to. I'm going to burn 110 octane fuel 13.5:1 compression. Somebody tell me what you think. Will this be a good street/strip car.

Most street engines that I see (just what I see) stay around 540 ish CUI and not much higher.

It all depends on your combo, a crazy cam will be harder on vavletrain, some don't like to idle (oil pressure) ect ect.

If those areas are VERY local then you could get away with a lot but again it depends on your combo most of that stuff if not all takes big heads and all that kinda suck driving on the street IE motors that like high rpm.

Fired up the engine. Started right up. Made a video, but it has to be approved before posting.
New oil pump due Wed. & still have a couple of unusual fuel fittings waiting to come in.
Hopefully will sneak off this W/E & make some 330' hit's. If all goes well, full pass' next time out.
Just waiting by the door for UPS. Keeping busy with some rewiring I want to work on.

looks nice!!!!! hope it wins many races for you and also lasts long enough for you to be satisfied with th life of the motor..... i love BIG power but damn i hate the idea of some of these $10,000-$20,000 motors not lasting but one season sometimes and even less than that..... how much life do you get out of a motor like that normally? jake

Did my 1st planned 100' pass. Checked for leaks & loose bolts, charged battery, filled fuel cell.
Everything looked fine. Tow up there, do burnout, killed it about 20' over the line. Battery dead, won't refire.
Push back, tow back to trailer. Check battery, 16.7. Fire it up, runs great. Drive around the trailer.
No problem. Go home.

Talk to a few guys, they think since battery sat for 3 years I might have a bad cell.
It doesn't like being charged & then used right away?? Heat issue?? No battery expert.
Looking into the new style AGM battery. Just have to get a modification kit for my charger.
Damn thing worked great while putting car back together, or I would have just bought a new one
before towing all the way there.

Trying for 330' this w/e hopefully.

Those kind of problems suck but why didn't you try to make another hit after it fired again? We've got two lightweight powermaster 16v batteries in the truck and so far they've worked very very good.

When we took the truck out for the first time I wasn't as smart as you. I made a full pass right out of the box. It never wiggled or wobbled so I stayed in it, lol. It was even dumber for the fact that we had never run that truck before and it sat for over 2 years. After about 50 passes all seems well though, lol. ::knock on wood::

We got there 3 hours late, due to last minute stuff I kept forgetting. Trailer has been a storage bin for my '89 WS-6
& a bunch of junk. Has not been out of garage in 3 years, so I kept thinking of tools & stuff to bring,
that I took out long time ago. Track was only open 6 hours & by the time I got calmed down,
they were almost closed, and all my guys had already left.

Besides, this is the 1st engine I built all myself. Every nut, bolt, bearing ect.
I don't want to attempt full pass' until all the new systems are checked out. Which I found a brake issue,
so I bought some check valves & will try again Sun., hopefully.

Obviously you're more confident then I was. Good luck, & go some rounds.

Results

no burn out, ......... tiny burn out, .......... Full burn out,
let off at 100' ........ let off 660' .......... blew off radiator cap ~900' threw chutes, water on slicks

60' ...1.39 . ......... . . 1.244...... ...1.265
330' ...4.124 ................ 3.536...... ...3.570
660' ...6.465 ................ 5.444...... ...5.486
mph ...94.77 ................ 129.31...... ...129.12
1000' ...8.984 ................ 7.237...... ...7.128
1/4 . ..11.47 ............... 9.070...... ... 8.679
mph ...86.11...................115.25...... ...135.12

old radiator cap blew open, temp was 175, so it must have just been too old.
Car moved hard back & forth when the water hit the slicks. Nice weather, didn't bring weather station, we were late again,
AS USUAL. Very happy with results. Especially last pass, killed engine & threw the chutes & still ran 8.60 with a terrible 60'.
Hope to make some N2O launch's sun & maybe full pass' tues.
