help with timing
help with timing ok so i think the ole timing is off..just put the motor in..well when i'm goin to start it, it's poofin flames out of the carb..that means the timings off right?? how do i fix it??

step 1.pull #1 up on tdc.
step 2.take destributer cap off and note position of rotary button
step 3.put cap back on and put #1 plugwire on terminal closest to where button is aiming
step 4.turn destributer so that the #1 wire is just counter clockwise of where the rotary button is so it will have slight advance before starting.
step 5.arrange wires in clockwise direction 1,8,4,3,6,5,7,2
step 6.start engine and set timing with a light.
TS:if fire comes out the carb timing is low-turn destributer counter clockwise
TS:if engine kicks back and will not start timing is high-turn destributer clockwise.
