Yea I would fab up my own deal to mount the TB to. I'm pretty sure that guy's dad fabbed his up for him. If you use your HEI what are you going to do with your computer and not having a crankshaft position sensor to calculate spark timing of your engine? Can you tune that out I wonder? Just something to think about. There is also another distributorless system that you could use in your application besides the one with LS1 coils if you can't get the HEI to work. http://www.delteq.com/index.htm Looks like a good deal for $700.

i dont have anywhere near $700 to spend. i plan on spending around 500 on this whole project. the very first tpi motor, 1985, used the hei distributor. the tach lead is what is plugged into the computer with some sort of filter on it. correct me if im wrong.

The distributor's themselves are pretty much the same (referring to the computer controlled versions from GM). What you'll also need to obtain is the pigtail from the engine harness, to the ignition module. The dizzy's themselves though are pretty common. Click Here, although this came from a TBI system, it's the very same unit found on the TPI's....

Interesting! I have a 1975 camaro and I always like the idea of transplanting a LT1 in there with the pcm and harness! I'll be checking back here for info, thanks in advance for the info!
