SBC Chevy motor in the UK revs to 11K!
Hi Guys, over here in the UK we have a TVR with a SBC in. He is getting 650bhp, and reving the power runs to 11K, the motor was built in the States, and if you look on the profile you can see the builder. Are you guys getting similar results?

I've heard of a few SBC revving that high, and I've even heard of a BBC reving to around 10,000rpm. However, I really don't see a need for it. You can build a motor with more horse-power at a more reasonable RPM level. That thing is probably a dog below 6,000, and you'll have to run such a short gear, that it won't be practical. But I would love to hear that thing sing that high.
Also, notice in the dyno graph that the power falls off drastically 8,000-8,500rpm. There's no need to rev any higher then that because you'r only hurting the motor, and not going any faster.

Everyones got their opinions on the old vs. new. The general consensus (especially on an LSx site) is that the LS series is a better engine. The only thing that the new and old generations of SBC share is the bore spacing. Everything else is drastically redesigned. There is no reason why you should swap out your LS motor for an older one.
