Hey whats up capn smokey! Well i never tried the ls1 starter. If somethin worked on it most likely it would be the lt1 starter but no the lt1 starter wont work either. Unless they change throughout the lt1 years but the 95 wont work.

auto or 6spd? either way, i think they use the 153 tooth [smaller] flywheel.
stickshift may be different, ive never bothered to check.

I really dont know if it was auto or 6spd. But you are sure though that the s10 starter will work right? I dont have to put an adapter or anythin for the gear to spin on the flywheel or for it to reach it? The blazer s10 and s10 pickup starters are the same right?

the s10 and blazer should be the same, but no telling with GM.
it works with the 168 tooth flywheel (larger of the two)

What do you mean larger of the two? and i dont know how many teeth my flywheel has. When i went to autozone it asked if it was large body or small body. Does that just mean like the size of the starter. I told him small body cuz it just seemed like thats what it meant.

gm used 2 different flexplates.
168 tooth, and a 153 tooth on some of the later models.
the s10 had to use a 168 tooth becuase a 153 tooth starter bolts closer to the motor.
hence why aftermarket starters have 4 holes instead of 2.
measure your flywheel to make sure you have a 168 that will work with the starter.
it should be close to 14" the 153 tooth is just under 13"
you want the small body starter.
just loook at it before you buy it to make sure its the smaller of the two.

Ok well my flywheel is the 168 tooth. So the small body starter should be perfect then right?

i know several people who run them with sucess. never seen a failure. on the bright side, if it does bust on you. lifetime warranty. you arent shelling out anymore dough for a new one.
good battery, and you wont have an issue with it, IMO.

after installing my LS1 on my 240, I found out that the starter is broken, and now since I have a clue that some headers wont clear the starter, I wanted to ask u guys which starter is the smallest but still works on the 98 LS1? does the LT1 work? and what other car can I get it from? thanks...

you dont have to replace the engine, but it may have to come out of the car.
