Hey guys i just bought a t5 transmission for my 89 trans am that currently has a 700r4, my speedometer is the electrical one and the one on the T5 is a cable one, is there any kind of conversion kit for the speedo or anything i can do to keep my speedometer?? please help, thanks

There should be something out there, seeing how 87 up f bods with 5speeds had electronic speedo's. I would check out the junk yard, or try over on thirdgen.org I sure hope your not gonna put anything with any kind of power in front of that t-5, you'll be back pulling it out before you know it.

When I bought a T5 to swap into my 89 Formula, I found one that just happened to have the electronic sending unit. You should be able to find a factory electric sender for a T5. The dealer may not have them available anymore, but try classic industries and some of the others like them (they buy old stock stuff when GM dumps it from inventory). Or, post up on 3rdgen, someone has to have one. My car and my T-5 are long gone these days (I now have a different 3rd gen that I bought when I sold my 2002 Z28).

I think you need to pull the tail shaft and swap some things out.

what do you mean by swap some things out?? is that for the sending unit or to make it handle ther power a bit better??

why a t5? it will most likely break. if you want a manual pay the extra $$ for a t56
