Rocker making noise

Default Rocker making noise

My friend swapped the 305 heads with double hump heads on his Iroc 350 with .040 over pistons,cam(dont know the numbers but not something wild or mild),holley intake and hedman hedders two rockers started to make noises but when he press the rockers on the side no more noises but when he take off hes finger the noises comes back the noises like knocking like it got exhaust manifold leak when he replace the rocker in the same place that used to make noises it still make noises the stud is straight it got no bend or something and the pushrods too and the lifters are brand new whats the cause that makes noises on only two rockers?

sounds to me they are not adjusted properly.

they've been adjusted many times but the noises wont go away

maybe there is some bad lifters. i've seen this many of times. brand new lifters out the box and they collapse. just my .02 cents.

Thats what I would say. I'd replace those before anything further goes wrong. Better to deal with it now, than to just let em ride like that. How did you go about adjusting them? Did you tighten them till there was no noise and then do a 1/2 or 3/4 turn on em?

well they tight them lightly then start the car then tight them till they stop making noises thats how they adjust rockers in my country

You need to back the nut off until it just starts making noise, the tighten until the noise just goes away. Then tighten an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn.

Also if it's one of the four rockers in the center be sure the intake bolts aren't too long, if they are they can touch the pushrod.

thank you guys I just called my friend and he told me the lifters were gone tomorrow he will change them

Yup thats what I was talking about, thats how you need to adjust them.
