Default T-56 flywheel for a 383?

I got a friend with a '93 Z28 and he's puttin in a 383 stroker but he REALLY wants to keep his 6-speed tranny. Does anybody know where we can find a flywheel with the wider 383 bolt pattern that will work with his T-56?

Thanks for any help.

I'm assuming he's using a standard SBC and not an LT1 stroker? And, my guess is that he has the 2 piece rear main seal crank with the 3.58" bolt circle on it (instead of the 3" bolt circle on the 1 piece seal engines). Centerforce makes an adaptor flywheel to put an LT1 T56 behind a 2 piece rear main seal SBC. It's not cheap, but it is available. We used one of those on a friends 1984 Camaro when we swapped it to an LT1 T56. And, he reused it on a nasty 383 in that same car.

There may be other choices these days (it was 7 years ago when we used the centerforce), but I'm quite sure it's still available. Jegs, Summit or others should be able to order one for you if they don't have it in stock.

Hope that helps.

Yep, centerforce has one and so does McLeod. I am using the McLeod Street Twin version to mate my LTx T56 with a BBC. McLeod part# 460370 steel and 560370 aluminum.

Now that McLeod offers a LTx SFI bellhousing it's pretty much a no brainer since it's a direct bolt in.
