What kind of cam do you want to use? Hyd, Solid, Hyd Roller, or Solid Roller

With that kind of lift you will have more issues with valve train life and oil pressure at idle (not all have this problem as long as you change the pump springs quite a bit).

There is a guy on here that ran that kind of cam in his small block but it was a track only car if I remember.

I am looking at runing a cam like that in my new 540..........

It won't be on the street a lot, maybe 200 miles a year.

If you want a fun street car thats reliable then go LT1, if you don't care abou buying really expensive valvetrain parts and being streetable then go with that cam and a small block or even a BBC.

My springs alone looks like will cost me $300 not to mention the lifters and push rods...... and the lifters and springs will have to get replaced at least once a season to stay safe.

With a 406 street strip I would go soild roller, 250/260 on a 108 with .630 or so lift.

For a race motor we run a 282/290 on a 112 with .700+ lift and we make peak power at 8,200 with our 406. Made 780 hp with 18* heads and 15-1 compression on motor.
