Default LT1 startup after rebuild question

I've rebuilt my LT1, used all the recommended assembly lubes and such, the problem is the engine has been sitting for over a year now. I've heard that some sort of system pre-oil or priming should be done. Need to know if there is more than one way to do this or if it is truly necessary. Thanks

****, if it was mine, i would spin it over with no power to the coil so it wouldnt fire. That way the oil pump primes the engine. Spin it over for about 6-8 seconds, take a 10 second break and then repeat 5 times. If you used good assy lube then the build up from it should still be there on the bearings. If it was a flat tappet cam you should worry but its not.

Watch the oil pressure gauge and repeat untill pressure is built.
