Default how much power? 355

I'm building a 355 for my EC. 014 block from a 72 El Camino.

ENGINE:
forged crank 2 bolt
.030 over
aluminum flat tops hypereutectic
aluminum procomp heads 64cc, 2.02/1.60, 200cc runners
aluminum edelbrock intake
650 CFM carb (undecided on make, could use help)
65k volt HEI
long tube headers
dual FM 40's with x-pipe 2.25"
roller rockers

CAM:
hyd flat tappet RV (clevite)

VALVE LIFT 1.5
INT:.444
EXH:.466

LSA: 112

aiming for 380-400 HP daily

can I run N2O with that kind of compression?

ditch the 2 bolt and get a 4 bolt for less than $200! also if a 355 is built right the sky is the limit honestly..... also i would NOT run a flat tappet right now with all the people with flat cam failure including me! if you have already bought it and its new send it back.... if not the stuff is dirt cheap so save up a little more money and get hydro roller.... a flat tappet might be fine man but its a gamble and i will never taje that gamble again and i would really hate for you to go what alot of others have gone through! good luck though in what ever direction you go! jake

the cam came with a kit, if it goes out I'll just swap it anyway, I have time and knowledge, so I'll run it for now. the block can be had in 2 and 4 bolt according to mortec, so I can get it machined if I need to.

Go roller with a bigger camshaft. 2 bolt will be fine if you dont care to exceed 500 HP.

i think 2 bolt can go over 500hp...... i had a 2 bolt running 550rwhp for years and just took the motor out for a refreshment and stroke and it looked like brand new..... im running a bigger blower and more power so this time i am using 4 bolt caps and a splaid setup..... but 500 is a really safe estimate i guess and i understand everyone has theyre opinion on what they think is safe so im not saying thats wrong.....

I say 500 without any race prep, no line bore, no TQ plate hone. Just build it and go and your chances are great it will last forever.

That flat tappet "RV" cam will idle like stock pretty much.

Keep the 2 bolt just intall a set of good studs (not Pro Comp) and have it align honed to keep the main bores round. Unless your spinning it over 7000rpm you dont need a 4 bolt, and even then studded and filled half way with concerte 2 bolt is just about as good...

The 200cc heads are too large unless you going to rev it over 6500rpm and your cam and intake choice wont allow it anyway.

Vortec heads or Performer RPM's, basically any head in the 170-185cc range will give you more what your looking for. Procomp heads are made in China so its buyer beware, they have low quality castings and poor machine work, not to mention the cheapest components you can buy. Say up a bit longer and put the money in the right places, you can make GREAT power from a set of out of the box Vortech heads if your on a very limited budget.... Remember when it comes to heads its not about port flow as much as it is port volecity and Vortec heads with their small heart shaped chambers and small runners achieve great low and mid lift flow numbers.

Performer RPM or equiv intake

670 Street Avenger Holley or a 3310 750 Vacuum secondary carb either will work well for your application

Comp 268 High Energy 218*/218*@.050" .454"/.454" is a GREAT cam

Just my .86 cents
