get a harness (a pull harness not a walking harness) and start walking him in it...then really light weight...then heavier.....google weight pulling...plenty of info

Where could I find one of these pull harnesses at, and I am guessing that you can buy them based on weight of the dog also...? How much would you say I should start him off on? He's 6 months old and I've weighed him at 47 pounds.

its really not about weight...the bones are too soft to put weight until about 9 months to a year...teach the dog to be ok in the harness then try a jug of rocks. google pulldoggies, they make pretty good harnesses.

He already walks well on a leash without pulling me around. He listens very well for his age. I don't think the harness will be a problem for him to get used to, I've never had a pit before him just german shepards growing up, but these dogs willingness to work and to actaully want to do it to make you happy is amazing.

you may be surprised...its a whole different type of pulling...and a lot to get used to being in a harness....then they have to get used to the noise behind them....youtube weight pulling pits...some awesome videos on there

For me...a good 18-20" tall, 59-64 pound male is golden...but then I show, pull, obedience trial, run, and swim my dogs. Plus about to start agility. Probably wont get it though being that his paw is 72 pounds.

You are the definition of a breed purist and not in a bad way. I have a lot of friends that breed to get that 20" 55-60 pound stance, but then I have few friends that just have big *** pit bulls, and that's what I like, and why I got mine from the parents I did. Father was a blue fawn and mother was blue brindle. And I guess I am the only one that likes un cropped ears too. Way I see it if the dog doesn't hold them right then get them cropped, but why cut a perfectly held pair of ears?!?!? Which is why I kept mine on my dog I just love his ears, his dad has gorgeous ears too that he holds perfectly.

My dogs dont look that good but they are awsome dogs lol

Susie = Pit Lab Mix. She is a hog dog that my uncle used as a catch dog. Free

Derby = Pekingnese. She is the meanest out of all the dogs.

Barley = Who knows. We adopted him. He is definately a pit, just a scrawny one.

Default sorrento

Yeah ive done that Sorrento show a few times for the pull, the ADBA dog shows used to be the gamest dog wins...now they focus on the best true APBT look. What we see today is not what a pit bull really is, but what is has come to be. Thats why those dogs look like 40 pound greyhounds... but thats what pits are supposed to look like according to all the old school game dog people that got it started. Most pitbull people today just became pit bull people in the last 10 years and some dont really know or care about what the history is because the dogs look so good now-a-days...I dont knock any certain look because I like any dog that will work, but I have chosen to breed working pit bulls according to the registry standards for health reasons as well as because im a super competitive person, so I need dogs capable of enduring the training I put them through.

Anyways, I could talk about dogs all day...thats my passion...before I went back to college I was submerged in the dogs...and when I finish completely in a few months, I will start getting my kennels and website back together.

Yo Grizzly is really nice! He is a beast..got any pictures of him standing up?....to me he has that Gotti look more than the Edge look. Good looking boy though

Hey ZacKAttack....I really like the dog on the right!!! Nice tight feet, bones in the legs from what I can see look nice and straight, no poked out elbows, no extra skin on the face...well defined jaws...man that dog looks better than you think...thats what that dog was bred to look like...lol
