I am considering moving to the Atlanta area and had some questions on emissions... I was told they do not do a sniff test but they do check for codes as well as check the gas caps and run a mirror under your car. Is there anything else? Do they look under the hood? Do they check the egr system? evap? I have a fuel cell but it fills in the stock filler neck and you wouldn't know unless i popped the hatch.. will that be an issue?

I was told that if you drive your car under a certain amount of miles a year you don't have to do emissions, is there such a thing? Sounds bs but I have to ask.

They do a fuel cap check,plug into the OBDII port, and do a visual under the car......sometimes.

Like said above...

Fuel cap for sure... cat check with a mirror under the car 50/50... and a plug under the dash to check for codes.


If the car is an early '95 or previous they will run the car on rollers with a sniffer.

If you don't know the tester guy... just don't say anything... if he acts like an idiot (like a democrat) just stop the test and roll out even if you've paid. Don't let the test complete so it doesn't hit the carfax (if you care) otherwise you can find another to retest after the democrat fails you...

If you need... I know a guy that will pass you no questions for $125 (that's his cost for the deed). He's on the I-285 loop around Atlanta. Pm if interested

some surrounding counties don't have emissions at all. depends on where you are moving exactly.
