Is Southern Progress, the ones who make the Southern Living magazines & other Magazines? If its the place Im thinking of then its in the nice side of town, Its off of Lakeshore Dr. Thats not to far from where I work about 3miles. I dont anything about that place, just where its located.

Yes, that's the place. It says on their website that they give tours of the "campus" and to schedule 2 weeks in advance
Where are decent housing areas relatively close to that area? I may just get an apt. for a year.
BTW where are the crappier parts of town to avoid?

I've lived in Birmingham for 19 years and I love it; I'm even going to college here. You need to live in Hoover or Mountainbrook. Wayne how have you been? I haven't seen you around in while.

Well, I'm one step closer to this move being a reality! Met with the GM yesterday & confirmed my pay would stay the same which should be pretty decent money there and they will pay for some of my moving expenses too. They are making arrangements to send me out there to check the place out so I'll let you know when I'll be there

Not sure how much you are willing to spend on a house or what size you want but the suburban northern Shelby County area has a good selection to choose from. It's where I grew up.

I live in the Pinson area which is northeast of the 'ham. Pinson, Clay-Chalkville, Trussville, Argo and Springville are areas north of Birmingham that would be worth your time checking out for housing.

Yeah Hoover or Shelby county, also look toward Montevallo(/spelling) its starting to grow in that direction. I love living in Ga. just NE of the ATL,but B'ham and surrounding areas are sweet too.

I'll be visiting Birmingham this Sat-Mon to see if I want to move there! I'm excited! I hope I like it so I can say goodbye to crappy Chicago winters. Where's a good place to go watch the Daytona 500 on Sunday?

Run by Walker Dyno Tune(205-661-6986/205-661-9539) in Trussville saturday, we will be there having a dyno day until 6pm and then we are going to head out to Bama Dragway 1/8th mile(if weather permits). I know you probably have alot to do while your here but this will give ya a real taste of Bham!
