I do not recommend the Firehawk hood. First off,,, they are bad pricey, second you have to trim the front bumper cover to fit it. Third problem is that I think SLP still requires a Firehawk VIN before placing the order. Finally, the quality of the hoods really suck!
My 2000 Formula has had four hoods on it, yep you read that right, four hoods. The original and three more replacement hoods. Guess what,,,, it needs another but I will not be getting another, at least under warranty. If you want, I can take pics of the problem and post it on here. They have terrible gellcoat problems right in the area around the hood scoops. SLP knew there was a problem with their hoods but didn't do anything about it. They just let time take care of the problem.
This is my opinion,, there are folks that haven't had problems with their hood but if you do a search on SLP hood problems,,, I think you will find enough evidence to prove I'm just not blowing smoke. I don't bash SLP at all, check out my posts. But when some asks about their hoods, that person deserves to know what kind of product they might be getting for their money {especially considering how much they cost}.
Get the Raptor, don't have to cut the bumper cover {that's my problem, can't get another hood without buying a bumper cover and SLP wouldn't spring for a new bumper cover}, it costs less and it will be of at least equal quality.

even an OEM Firehawk hood from gmpartsdirect would be shitty??I have a friend at a GM body shop and he might possibly be able to get me a god price on the hawk hood is the only reason i considered it

The biggest problem with the Firehawk hoods is that when they're made there are solvents that need to bleed off and vent over time, but SLP painted them right away when they got them. Bubbles would appear and there were paint problems. If the hoods could sit for a month or so before being painted there'd be no problem. Currently you don't need a vin# anymore since they stopped production. They are expensive-try ebay. You will have to trim your bumper because they are longer than stock or WS6 hoods. The raptor hoods mimick the 'Hawk ones but are made to the shorter spec so there's no cutting. BTW if you do get a factory hood now it won't be painted so no paint problems just make sure your body shop sands the BOTTOM also or paint will flake off. Sounds like common sense but I've heard of this headache.

im just not sure on whether i like the lines of the raptor. I like how the hawk has a little bulge to it and is still subtle. the raptor seems a little to round and bulgy, I NEED MORE PICS!!!!!!of hawk hoods
