http://www.admissions.uga.edu/2_fy_classprofile.html

GA Tech Averages:
High School GPA 3.75
SAT 1337

The classes at UGA are not as easy as you think. It really depends on your major, but that's the case with any school.
Now think about the classes you have to take at GT tho... a) the SAT level required is higher for a reason, b) The reason the GPA is lower is because those people who attend GT are prob. in all AP courses throughout high school and bust their asses every day (myself) rather than taking CP level courses. Think about it, I have a low GPA, but im in all AP/gifted courses.

Well, since I am in a post whoring mood I will say one more thing. Just remember that we all go to what ever school we go to for our own reasons. The people that go to one school or another are going to have strong feelings of pride for that school. Argueing one point or another is not going to change anyone's mind. If you are going to UGA or Tech, more power to you and best of luck

ha nice neutral "wrap up" post there. I have to agree about UGA though, its not easy getting in. Now southern on the other hand, is cake. But the average entrace SAT score at UGA for acceptance is like very high 1200, ive seen a few 1300 folks get turned away due to not having an equally decent GPA. And just like metalbeast said, you go to that particular school for whatever personal reason. UGA, GT, or southern, dont even offer my degree, so i wouldnt consider myself an idiot or inferior to a tech student...same goes for anybody else.

neways congrats outlaw. I did GPC for core classes before transfering and i think i spent MAYBE $1100/year after books. Its a good deal and for me, the alpharetta campus was literally 5 min away. goodluck to you either way

I disagree. I had a 1410 and wouldn't have been accepted to Tech if I wasn't a legacy applicant because my parents went there. I did have a ged though (99th percentile too)...

You're mistaken. I transferred from Gainesville College to Georgia Tech in 1997. My GPA at Gainesville College was ALL they looked at. My mom only had a high school diploma, dad never finished high school so they obviously had no clout about me getting in. Graduated from Georgia Tech in 2000 with my BS in Mechanical Engineering. Its not getting IN Tech that's all that hard....its staying there

Good score on your sat man. I got an 1170 my junior year of high school. I applied to three schools, North Ga, Georgia Tech, and Clemson. I got into all three. North Ga sent my acceptance letter 2 days after they got my application, lol. I chose Clemson for their mechanical engineering program. I know GA Tech's engineering program is awesome, but Clemson has teamed up with BMW and several other auto manufacturers for an automotive graduate school. I plan on doing that when I get my b.s. degree. People still give me all kinds of crap about going to Clemson instead of UGA. Why do I want to go to a school where my major isn't offered? 6 out of the top 10 people in my class went to UGA. All of them started out wanting to be pre-pharmacy. One semester later, they were all out of that program. Guess what they are now? Education majors; and they give me crap over a stupid football team? I didn't choose the school to watch football games. If you want to do that, buy a ticket. I'm getting an education.
