Default I Have A ???

My car is "SUPPOSE" to have a 160 thermostat in it but still reads stock temps, I was looking at speed inc. web page and it said to make sure to tune your pcm to cooler temps. Do you think mine just needs to be tuned to cooler temps or I just don't have a 160 stat? THANKS GUYS Remember, I don't know too much about stuff under the hood.

yeah to take advantage of the stat you need to tune it to make the fans come on earlier. Dont let the temps get too cool though, that not good to do.

Your car will always read 210....the guage is basically a dummy gauge. only year that actually worked or showed the "real" temp was 98 i believe. Its basically just there to let you know if it goes higher than 210.

So all readings above 210 are correct? Mine runs 200-210 all the time. With the mods that was on it when bought, I would think the stat was changed. Was gonna replace it but have second thoughts now. Thanks

It's easy to just program the fans down to lower temps, Mine never goes above 192-194 now I'll have to wait until summer time to see how it likes the heat.

I have the new version of HP tuners, the USB MVPI one with the enhanced IO. Unlike the old version, this one uses credits, so each car = 2 credits, or 6 credits for a specific year/type car. It works well, however if I put it in your car it'd eat 2 credits up.

If you would like to change anything on your car, you can buy 2 credits from hptuners or reimburse me for 2 and we can change anything on your car, I think it's around 100 bucks for 2 credits.

I have a LC1 wideband too to get a perfectly accurate A/F too. Road tuning is the best, most dyno tunes are just tuning the PE (power enrichment) A/F settings at WOT and other misc settings, timing, idle, etc. To get the best tune it's good to get the LFTS and SFTS tuned to -5 to +5 and then get a good WOT PE tune too however it takes a good amount of time (why tuners don't do it probably because they'd have to charge for their time).
