Emission check in NC
Emission check in NC What emission checks are there in North Carolina? I'm ordering some headers and would like to delete the air system. Are the checks different for cars that are not daily driven? Can they do a random spot check? There are no emission checks in Florida, but I'll be moving to NC in the future.

As far as I know they cant check you car if they pull you over for something but They do have yearly emmissions where they check to make sure EVERYTHING is their such as cats, EGR, air pump and other emmission crap

Cops have been known to do spot checks around the Mecklenburg area. I had a cop believe my bullet muffler in my I pipe was the Cat lol, what a tool. Anyhow like they said depends on the county and where you go to get the yearly inspection. My guy doesnt even see tint lol

Some counties do OBDII testing as well, where they hook the car up to a computer and verify that it has no codes in it.
It depends, I live in a county that doesnt have any emissions checking. We will be going to it next year. As long as your car doesnt have any codes in it I wouldnt worry about it. It all depends on were you are moving to. If you are moving to an area around Charlotte or Raliegh/Durham then they might be a lil tighter on the checks.
