New dyno tune results from H/C setup....
I had Becky(Lady Red Hawk) from Hendersonville, NC do a new tune on the SS Vert. and let me tell you she nows her stuff.
Becky tuned the car to a final number through the CME gmmg exhaust with 429.9 HP and 408.5 TQ. to the wheels.
My previous numbers were a "so called tuned"(another tuner which I won't mention)409 hp and 382 tq. I gained 20 hp and 26 foot lbs TQ!!!!!!
With the last run being with the cutout open, it only picked it up to 431 HP and 410 TQ. The Gmmg is only hurting me 2 HP and 2 TQ. So I guess this gmmg flows pretty well.
The car gained a ton of TQ throughout the RPM band. HP did the same, but not like the TQ did. If I am correct, she change the timing to 30deg, my a/f was a 13.5 under 4000rpm and a 13 above 4 grand. She did alot more, but I don't know what half of it means. I can have her chime in if you guys would like.
The car pulls like mad now compared to old. What a difference it made. I will post up the dyno graph Monday once I get it scanned. This thing now has 375 ft lbs at 3500 rpm. What FUN!!!

Lady Redhawk,
How do you tune over all and what software do you use to interface with the PCM?
Do you use the 02's on a dyno, the street, wide band...all the above?
I just tune my 383 with HPT and an LM-1 Wide Band tool...It's amazing how accurate we got the a/f ratio and how much timing I could add vs. narrow band tuning.
Motor is in constant open loop w/o the MAF and runs like a raped ape now !!
Cant believe I EVER tuned with narrow band.
Jim

Depending on how heavily the car is modded will determined what all needs to be done. I have both EFI Flash/Scan and HPTuners. I use HPTuners to program the pcm on most cars. I get the part throttle tuning dialed in with the stock 02s and scan a lot with EFI for that. I find EFI does a better job of scan than any of the other scanner I have used. For SD tunes I will use HPTuner for scan. I will also do a little WOT tuning from the street scan as well. Once part throttle tune is right, we go to the dyno with wideband 02s.
I have found that the techniques I have learned and used over the years tuning on the "streets", by the time we go to the dyno with wideband, there has been very little that needs to be done. For instance I tuned a 2001 C5 A4 with a 3500 TC that originally had a 224 cam, most bolt ons, stock heads. After the tune was finished, he switched out the 224 cam with the Magic Stick, installed AFR 205 Heads, SVO 30lb injectors. I retuned his car on the streets. It took 2 days ie, I would tune it one day, he would drive it for about 100 miles, and I would adjust as needed the next day. He went back to the dyno with us yesterday, and AFR was perfect. I made no changes on the dyno.

I think I see what you're saying. I'm pretty new to this and it sounds as if you're NOT.
My motor is fairly heavily modded. LS6 block, 4" Callies Crank, Diamond Pistons, Eagle Rods (all forged). FMS FM1-RJ-111 Cam, LS6 Stage III Ported Heads all the bolt-ons.
I decided to go OLSD after talking to numerous people about tuning. Mainly I got tired of "the expert" tuners not being able to tune this motor for drivability and power.
So far so good. Runs EXCELLENT and fly's when I beat on it. 28* of timing @ WOT with 12.5:1 (edit 12.0:1) compression. No knock. Idles fine, doesn't hunt or surge.
Do you believe this is the way to go with a setup like mine?

Brian, do you have the chart from the dyno in Atlanta?
Jim, sounds like you are doing well with the tune on your car. 28* timing is really good if you can do it without any know. Not bad timing for 12.5:1 compression motor.

Brian, since we can't really overlap the two graphs, I hand drew the Atlanta graph onto the dyno we did the other day. The chart doesn't look as steep because the grids are sized differently on the two charts. But it should be pretty accurate.

Thanks Becky.

EDIT: I've got 12.0:1 compression
