Default Broken 12 bolt!

Anybody on here ever broke a 12 bolt? I broke my moser 12 bolt about 2 weeks ago on just the heads a cam set up. Probably about 440 rwhp and 410 rwtq. It broke the carrier and ring and pinion. Who ever is reading this don't buy moser products, because they have the worst customer service in the buisness. Total dick heads! The rearend was set up from them and after it broke I took it apart and the passenger side carrier bearing was not pressed on and one of the bearings on the pinion was not pressed on. There blaming it on richmond gears, but the fact is they set this 12 bolt up so lose it came apart on me on my second pass on slicks. Now they are blowing me off and doing nothing about the rearend. There saying it's my fault because I own a 6 speed car. There saying that there 12 bolts are for street application's only, and if that was the case I could have saved myself $2700 and rolled the 10 bolt! Anybody else had a problem with there 12 bolt/ 6 speed car? I personaly think there feeding me a bunch of sh*t !

12 bolts are fine.. Its all in who sets them up... My Strange has been 9s in a 6spd a few times @ over 140mph...

On that note, I had a Moser back in the day.... Made a pass in front of GMMG grabbing 2nd/3rd... let off and all the sudden the car dropped about 6 inches on one side and my right rear tire came rolling past me.... Sheered every stud in the axle (Yes, the wheel was torqued

I know Ron believes in the 12 bolts, and I can respect that coming from you. I'm just wanting a round of opinion's from everbody on here about a Strange 12 bolt,Dana 60, or should I go 9 inch. Plus.....how much more rwhp will the 9inch and Dana 60 eat up compared to the 12 bolt?

If I already had the 12 bolt.. I'd just rebuild it..... Pay a really good rear end guy to set it up right and be done with it..... You'd probably take a huge loss on the 12 bolt going to another rear.

On that note, I am about to order a D60 and when it gets here its going to my rear end guy to be set up just for good measure.

Do you still have the gmmg I sold you?

I say go with a 9 inch and not the ones from Inssurection . But serious I would definetly go with a currie 9inch. The 12 bolts I just don't thing will hold up under the instant shock of the 6 speed cars. You also have to consider you didn't even launch it off the bottle so you didn't have all that instant torq there and it still broke. Goodluck with getting back together.

12 bolt with a spool is going to be your most effective with the least amount of weight/power loss.... a PROPERLY setup 12 bolt will not break the way this one did

A Dana 60 would problably be overkill but you would never have to worry about it again.. same with a well built 9 "

The Dana is completely bullet proof ... used to run them in a SS\A 68 Hemi Cuda super stocker and you could not hurt them at all..it was the only part of the drive train that you could not break..750 + HP with 5.56 gears and 14 inch wide slicks... ... the 9 inch will be almost as bullet proof as the Dana..they are both probably over kill unless your are going to make some really outragious horse power...I would suggest that you just get your 12 bolt set up by a competent tech and keep on keepin on with it..I know a couple of guys that can do it if you dont..just PM me..good luck with it..

PS you are not the first person that I have heard about with customer service issues with that company..you are just the next unhappy customer in a long and still growing line of pissed off people ...

the D60 is like the 12bolt when switch gears and what not, the 9" is a little easier. when it comes time ill prolly be going with the 60 since it is a bit cheaper than a 9" or 12bolt

Yes it is easier to change ratios with a 9 inch ...but have you priced a set up third member??? It is less expensive to buy a set of gears and have them set up in the 12 inch or dana when switching ratios..
