Default NC registration/Inspection

I'm currently in the AF, getting out in Sept and moving to NC. I have my car registered in NM where there is no emissions or inspections. Will I have any problems registering my car in NC??? I have lt's and an ORY. The car is tuned and the af ratio is almost perfect. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

if the car is before 1995 it doesn't even have to take the sniffer test, or even be checked for emissions. i have a 94 with a gutted cat and limo tint and i passed.

you're going to have to pass a visual inspection for sure, your ORY will fail. you need to find someone that will 'over look' your ORY.
also depending on the county that you live in you will need to also pass a "Plug In" test, any SES light will fail, but if your rear O2s are tuned out you will pass.

The car is a 2000, I have the o2 sims in, and no SES light. EGR tuned out. I'll be in carteret county. So more than likely i'll have to buy a catted y???

I am new to NC and also have an ORY. From what I've been told unless you can find an 'in' with someone with a station to pass you.............you are gonna have to get cats on it and have tint that's legal for NC to pass.

Needless to say, I will be adding cats to my Y pipe soon.

Yeah, I'll probably have to get a catted y hopefully the one from texas speed bolts up, or I'll have to get new headers.... Then I'll really be pissed. But I have to worry about tint too??? Mines not crazy dark, like 25-35%. What's the legal limit in NC??? This is going to be frustrating....

I think 35% but the guys who have seen mine all say it's too dark. I will probably get it removed for good because it's gonna be sitting in the garage mostly after I buy a house.

But it does suck for the Y pipe, a cut out is illegal as well. At this point it would be nice again to have a car that doesn't choke me in traffic.
