Default lt1 keeps falling on it's face help is it the opti !!!!!!

94 camaro z28 just dies out of the blue for no reason. could happen 10 min after u crank it or not at all. once u let it cool down for a while it starts right back up. i think it is the opti what do u think. also do i need to replace the entire opti or just the cap and rotor. would like to know your openion a.s.a.p i have it sold like it is but would like to keep it if it's the opti . if not and it's a bigger problem i'll just let it go. i have it sold tomorrow so let me know soon.

I'd like to know too. My 93 Firehawk with the LT1 starts up and runs good at idle, but when you give her some gas it misses a little or a lot depending on the RPM. This is a fairly new GM Opti I too. The POS Cost me a $1100 to buy it and have the dealership install it. But yeah, I've been told it was the optispark too.

Try the coil and ignition module, both will give symptoms related to heat as a opti will not. Typically when a coil or module start going bad the will break down as the get hot and being mounted on the front of the head does not help. Also if you are doing this and have them off do the spacer mod and get them off the head a bit.

Pul the module and have it checked, parts stores can check for you for nothing. Also a coil is a cheap something to try before you buy a opti you don't need.

Also check to make sure there is no corrosion on the connections. This will cause a miss and the car will die as well.

Thumbs up

Thanks LALT1 "Cracky",
BTW...where did you find your air filter and ducting at...looks wicked. My 93 only SLP ramair crap setup was obsolete with no replacements in 94, and I've been looking for a good replacement set up.
I'm gonna try the coil and ignition module first for sure. Where can I find that spacer mod at?? I'm so ready for my Firehawk to be running right.
Thanks again.
