So you had the 6-speed for the higher dyno numbers... and now you're getting the tranny for the low track numbers....

In the end what do you really want? You sure as hell cant drive it around anywhere with that PG or even a turbo400....

Will you put the 6 speed back in it?

Why cant he? What happened before o/d trannies? I drove my th400/3.55 gear combo to the house of hook...3 hours and wasnt too bad. Its not like he intends to drive to other states...just to local stuff like shows and such. Hell half the places in Atlanta you cant get TO the speedlimit because of traffic

^ all these old 'Vettes I work with everyday have the old 3 speed autos (t400) and 4-spd sticks....

They tach high rpm just driving around... Driving a '66 Corvette with a 4 spd and 4.11's turning 3,600 rpm just keeping pace with traffic for a few exits on the interstate. Plain stupid.

The t-56 has me spoiled. I took for granted how much an overdrive transmission saves on wear and tear. (RPM)

I put the 6 speed in the car at the time, because I wanted to bang gears for awhile. The 6 speed at the track would also tear up alot of parts and is harder on everything doing clutch drops, and breaking $1400 clutches can get expensive, and I would also have to upgrade to a $3000 tranny to hold the abuse and get it rebuilt after so many passes. The HP#'s are good, and it will still make the power, just alot more usable at the track. As far as what I really want,I have decided to make the SS a race car and go to event such as the LSX shootout and other private track events. After this year,I will get the motor in my car now refreshed and put it in something else and step up the new powerplant and bigger turbo's for next year. As far as driving the car, I usually only drive to local car shows. I trailer my car to the track, just incase it breaks, that way I don't have a hefty tow bill! My next 6 speed car will be a vette with this motor in it and either turbo's or a big blower.

You're gonna need a bigger motor...
