As far as '02 Zl1s go how about one that was delivered as a Phase I, converted to Phase III, converted to Phase IV (supercharged running 106 VP race gas. Builder could not make the car run so he pulled the SC, no other changes (read low comp, etc.) and effectively made it a Phase 3-, still wouldn't run and was finally rebuilt by MC as as a Phase IIP2X whatever! One ZL1 that has been every engine configuration! Plus, and this is the really sweet part, alll this only cost about $90K not including the car!!! What fun!!

FYI, NO Z28s were ever made convertables. this was a ragtop that was specifically made into a Z28 right on the chevy assembly line.

so for absolute rare, you could call it a 1-of-1, or even a 1-of-none, since it was never offered to the public.
This is not a proven fact only a myth. there is no documentation that they built this car and it hasnt came up. kinda like the 65 z16 convertible. no pictures and no docs. my vote gets that it wasnt built

You can beat this topic seven ways to sundown, but there isn't another F body anywhere near this one on any level.. rarity, valuation, or historical signifcance. On that note rare + desirable= valuation!!

Problem is this is LS1 tech,if you go to any first or second gen forum there would be one post on the topic, because they would all agree without question which car it is hands down! Don't get me wrong I my fourth gens, but none of them are EVER going to be valued a well over seven figures like the Estes car.

Some of you guys need to do a little DD before you post with total conviction

" Only recently was the car made known to the public."

my bad. Last I heard It was still not around. guess I should keep up on that stuff I'd still like to see some documentation on that car. without the original equipment, buildsheet, etc...that car is just another z/28 vert clone. I'm not saying it doesn't have its docs but they didn't mention anything about it.

ok I found a pretty good article on the car mentioned above but still havent seen anything about docs. http://randworkman.com/featured_even...tails.php?id=8

all they have done is "Said" its the real deal but anyone can say they have something they dont. They say its original numbers matching equipment but once again its pretty easy to re-stamp something. And like I said above Im not saying that car isnt real by no means but If I were to pay 7 figures for a car I'd like to know a little more info about it instead of someones word that the car is real. And I personally think an actual Penske Trans-Am race car may sell for more if one ever went to an auction.

Dude, this car was well documented years ago, and was shown in MCR and other magazines. Some years later it was put up for auction at the Kruse-ACD Auction where the paperwork for it was stolen (more like taken for hostage).
The Estes 1968 Camaro Convertible Z28 was one of the main feature attractions in the 2004 Kruse International Labor Day Auction where it was bid to over one million dollars.
There were articles in the local papers all about this car and how well documented it was and verified by several professionals in the buisness besides just the Kruse family and how traumatic it was to lose the paperwork for it. I'm pretty sure the paperwork was recovered after paying some ransom. Not sure what happened to the perp(s), hope they got jail time.

Do you need me to dig up the MCR article on this car?

Thanks I see that you're in New Orleans. Do you go to any shows/ cruise-ins on the Northshore. We're usually attending them in that area.

Default How about these 1992 Firehawks? Rare?

How about the 1992 Firehawk cars? Only 25 built. Most people don't know about 'em. The IMSA car is the last known race car to exist. The dark jade metallic car is the last hardtop built and one of 3 with a aluminum rodeck engine. FWIW, the IMSA car was also the first 1991 1LE built.

You could order 92 Firehawks directly from the dealership w/ a $5k deposit and option code B4U.

I would have to say my dream car: 1969 Pontiac Trans Am. Not just any old '69 T/A. It has to be a 400 CID Ram Air IV, Rally II wheels, blue interior, 4 speed and have the racing stripes continue on the spoiler pillars. That specifically with the Medium Blue stirpes on the spoiler pillars was a very rare option. Most had it where the pillars were still white like the spoiler and rest of the body:

Sheesh t_towner, you have the best REALLY SPECIFIC car collection I've seen. I'll probably be about like you with 4th gen Camaros when I'm older. I have a long shopping list of specific cars I'd like to own, but I'll have to wait until I can find them and afford them.
