B4C or regular z28?
my friend is selling me a 2000 Pewter camaro z28 with 130k miles for $5k. I was looking at the car and i noticed some things on it that hint me it might have been a B4C. It has a Hard top and stock wheels. It appears to have some bondo on the roof covering a hole with small plastic caps and also has 2 plastic caps on the driver side rear quarter panel. The dash board has holes where it looks like gadgets were bolted. It has 4 holes in the center of Dash where a speed gun might have been. Could this be an Ex highway patrol camaro or other special government car? is there a way to find out besides a carfax?

The most obvious way to tell would be the emblems on the car. A B4C Camaro would not have Z28 badges. Option B4C was an alternative to Z28 which meant the car would be a V8 with similar options and a more powerful alternator.
As B4C is a production code, this code would appear among the other production codes on the vehicle itself. Look for the sticker attached to the car which has the VIN and rows of three character codes which describe what the car was manufactured with. If it was built as a Z28, this option code will appear there.
It is possible that while not a B4C fleet option vehicle, the Camaro was used by law enforcement and this could explain the holes. If it is marked as a Z28, perhaps it was used as a pace car somewhere?

Look for B4C on the RPO sitcker that should be attached to the driver's door.
FYI: If it is a B4C then it will also have the Z28 RPO

Yep its got the B4C code on the door...thats pretty cool....bought the car yesterday morning...pretty happy with it as its my first LS1! Jw why is the car so fast if its supposed to be stock? The guy that sold it to me raced a 98 z28 M6 with SLP exhaust and my camaro got it by half a car...everyone thinks my car is chipped and wont believe me that is isnt...or at least i dont think it is.....is there a way to tell? its an a4 and literally no mods at all.

While a 1/2 car against a "stock" M6 w/ just exaust may be possible w/ little-to-no mods, its a rare find to get an ex-cop car that hasn't been "breathed" on a little bit by the boys in blue. Cops have been doing this forever. How do you think NASCAR got started? But I'm pretty sure the B4C w/ an A4 includes the 3.23 gear. That's gotta help. Or you buddy can't drive that M6.

since your car really is a b4c, it came with many of the stock options of a z28, now when you raced the 98 m6 your b4c is defanately my guess ballparking it(75 pounds lighter if he were a ttop)
and the chip idea not so much.
now many of these cars have been reprogrammed by the agency they were sent to for use. so that maybe the case.
