New guy to LS1TECH but not to Fbodies
Hello everyone. I just got my hands on my dream car. Three weeks ago I got a CETA, auto/cd/tcs with 7600 miles.
I always wanted a WS6 when I was in high school but could not afford it at the time. I bought a 98 Firebird 3.8 after I graduated and kept it while I was in the service. Also had a 92 Firebird TBI and recently an 83 Z28 during the same time. I ended up trading the 98 and the Z28 for the CETA.
The car has a few flaws, the previous owner (one of the two) painted the brake calipers and the grilles on the side vents silver. The CETA portfolio is missing and the leather on the trophy mat seems to have shrunk probably due to the weather. Also it seems that the car either had aftermarket wheels at one point or had the tires rotated because two are mounted the wrong way and one lug nut is black when all the others are chrome.
I was somewhat disappointed that the entire exhaust system was removed and straight pipes all the way to the back were put in its place. That was until I heard it running. I only say I was disappointed because I feel that takes some of its originality but its not like the car is a museum pice.

And now the pics!
I'm no photographer and the weather has been horrible up here.
My CETA has an identity crisis at the time. I had the plates from my Camaro transferred over.

I just read your post. Is the car an auto? If so does it have a driveshaft from an lt1 car and a scratch that was painted on the rear pass. quarter? If so, it may indeed be my old car. I had straight pipes, painted calipers and vents, diff. wheels at one time and 4:10 gear. Maybe you can swing by sometime so I can see my identifing marks?

Forgot to mention the scratches on the rear quarter. Yes that was me at Babes on Jefferson. And it seems like it might be the car. I couldn't tell you as to the drive shaft or gears but the cats and mufflers are gone and the calipers are silver. Did you have mirror-like vinyl TransAm and front bumper decals on it?
I go to the Lockport cruise night on Mondays and I'll be at Darcy's on Friday if you wanna stop by.

Looks good, it won't be hard to convert back to 100% stock. Just watch this site, craigslist and your local f-body club's board (I think you're in Chicago), if further south in IL check out www.fastlouis.com the St. Louis F-body board. A stock exhaust system is almost free when people remove them. An LS1 alumuinum driveshaft won't be hard to come by either. They run about $100 these days and you'll find them in the same place as mentioned above.
For some of the other CETA specific stuff go to www.collectorfbody.com. A friend of mine here in STL run that board.
