You would be better off having that from PHS or Daytona. I'm sure there is a pace car registery or website somewhere

 

These cars paced the 2002 race

 

PHS was no help too new. Texasless thanks for the info but yea these cars did pace the 02 race not the 01 race.

any chance u still have this guys info. I just bought a 2002 CE Daytona with no paper work. I’m having a hard time trying to confirm it’s originality.

 

Is @jrinehart81 still around? Wonder how his car is doing. With his SPID it shows his is a Pilot car.
Do these other ones have a pic of the SPID for them?

I don’t have a pic of the SPIDs, but have the VINs & RPOs for them. What is your question? I think there were only a few options available on these. Manual/auto, CD changer and traction control/ASR I think, along with the Hurst shifter for the M6 cars.

 

That is correct, 2001 was the last year a Cassette HU was offered.

Looks like the first 3 CETA had WD0 (Platform Containment Vehicle) and WD1 (Pilot Vehicle). Two manual coupes and an automatic convertible. The SPID above (vin 004) is ASC# 2.



These columns/data was imported from the ASC spreadsheets. Their notes indicate that ASC #2, #525 & #606 were "One of the Daytona pace cars with the different stripes". Other cars have notes like "Daytona parade car, Dale Earnhardt Jr" and "Daytona parade car, Jimmie Johnson".


FYI RPO's pulled from a separate source support the ASC data of two manuals and one automatic. I know a post above says otherwise.

 

ASC conversion sequence isn't always the same as the VIN sequence, You have a point..

 

To close the loop on this, CompNine's records indicate that ALL '02 T/As and Formulas got the W55 HU (coupes) / and T/A 'verts got the X20 HU. There was a W53 HU that I suspect was standard on the V6 Firebird coupes while W55 was optional. Curiously, all V6 Firebird 'verts got the X20 HU.

I have the compnine report for a Pace car, showing one of 3 made. It is manual tranny and T-Top, probably ASC 525?.

 

I can confirm there were 3 WD1 WS6 CETAs. ASC numbers 1, 2 and 3. All built in late February 2001.

Based on the R7X and MN6 I can say that car is probably CETA #2.
