Done my research, checked the rpo codes and it has Z28 and Z4C but no Wu8 or Wu9.

It is white with orange stripes and white leather interior 6 speed.

Under the hood it says American Sportscar and has a 1800 number.

I am thinking it is fake. Am I right??

I'm pretty sure R7T was the RPO for SS in '97. But so far, Z4C is a good sign, that was the 30th Anniversary package RPO. But it was also used on non-SS cars (Z28s).

get the vin# and give slp a call. they'll be able to tell you if its a ss and what options the car came with.

R7T and WU8 sometimes interchanged on '96-'97 SSes. WU9 should theoretically be on it though.

good job. i'd post the VIN in this thread too so if someone else is looking at this car and puts the VIN in google or something, this thread will show up and they won't get hosed either...

Yep. I went through the same **** when I was trying to SELL my 97. Luckily I had all the paperwork and documentation, as well as legible door stickers from SLP. Pics are in my profile...

Hard thing was explaining where the stripes were. I had a new kit in SLP boxes (SLP will be all over the packing tape). Hard to explain that the previous owner peeled them off due to clear coat starting to flake....
