Default In need of a steering rack

My 01 'hawk needs a new steering rack and I can't find any good information on where to get one. It has the FE2 with Bilstein Ultra Performance Suspension System. I want to get the correct unit. Does anyone have any info? Thanks.

I haven't read much good news on rebuilt racks. Mostly early failures due to inferior parts and/or construction. Does this company have any feedback here? I'd love to read some other reviews.

I saw a article in GM High Tech Performance that showed them rebuilding a F-Body rack. I would not hesitate to send mine to them. Looks like A-plus work.

According to some research, ..., it looks like a GM 26062311.
Holy crap, ..., they're costly, ..., nearing $600-1000 for some at GM dealers.
But can be found for much less as rebuilt or from local auto parts stores.

The rack doctor shows one only steering rack for all 2000-02 Firebird/TA. I have to believe there are differences between say a 6cyl 'bird and a WS6 or a Firehawk. Amiright? If not, I may have to remove it and send it to turn-one. I really don't want to as my garage is currently occupied by my resto-mod 68 Impala SS.

There is a difference between the steering rack in a V6 car to a V8 car. I have a rack that was rebuilt by Turn one But I live in Canada and I don't think its practicle to ship to the states. I had bought a used rack in the US, had it shipped to Turn One to have rebuilt etc. If you are removing the rack yourself search for the "HOw Too" pictures. To save a lot of work back the bolts off as much as you can and then cut the tops off with a recipricating saw. This will save having to undo the motor mounts and lift the engine up. When you install the new rack just feed the bolts in from the top.
