Default Any one has info on 2002 CE DAYTONA cars.

Just picked up a 2002 trans am CE Daytona 500 with the Daytona 500 decal badges on the door. Looks extremely original. But I have my doubts. who can I speak with that has info and the vin numbers that was used in that 2002 parade.

I can't help you but sure would like to see some photos of your car. How many miles on it?

I'm not a 100% sure but in photos I saw with Jay Leno who drove one of the pace cars at the race, it had decals on the front and rear bumpers and an American flag on the sail panel. That was one of the cars used and I am sure there were many others. I have seen 2 different door decals, the white background on yours and no background. Maybe the Pontiac Historical Society has the list of VINs for the cars that participated? Is the car signed by anyone on the dash, sun visor, under the hood? There should be something additional somewhere to ID it.

Looks to me like someone slapped the big vinyl on it and trying to get a few more bucks, sadly...

I wonder who wrote that description back in 2016? Is that accurate about just two cars at the track, or just what the seller wrote?

I think it was just at that specific track that day when Leno/Stewart were signing them..

In this old C&D video you can see the extra decals (flag, etc) and non-white background of main decal and hear their production claims. I think i remember OP saying the sail panel had been replaced(could be confusing with another car though[EDIT: went and looked, i was mistaking the NHRA car and this one.]) so maybe thats why the flag isnt there? Still doesn't explain the white background decal.

Both of these have white background main decals and missing the flags/others also... So is it only the cars that see track time that get the full decal package and non-white mains?

@SpraydZ Thanks for the info. Good stuff. I'm still learning all these years later. I'm sure the OP will appreciate this info as well

Just a fyi.
the CETA’s with the white background we’re used as Driver parade lap vehicles. 43 of them were used pre-race for driver introduction. A mix of Verts and Coupes were used.

There were only 3 Track duty actual Pace Cars. Two were used on Track and the Third was a backup. I have photos somewhere of them in the race paddock.

I didn’t watch the links vids yet in case this info wasn’t covered.
congrats on the rare CE!

Not to hijack, but I remember watching the 2002 Daytona 500 and seeing the CETA pace cars, and the emotional tribute to #3.
