my friend just bought a 1998 mecham trans am the dash plaque says its #2 i was jus curious to how many of these were produced in 1998

Not sure how many were built, but it's a pretty cool looking car. Does your friend have any numbers? 1320? HP/TQ? Seat-o-pants enjoyment?

its not bad its an automatic car but the plage shows that it is #002 so im guessing there werent more than 999 built like that but im not sure i heard that they came standard with a 6 speed so im curious how many autos were done... its in dier need of a tune though oh and my friend is a girl thats the coolest part

I haven't found any number totals on those, but you could try contacting the company that did the Mechams and maybe they'd have the totals... do share if you get 'em

I have 1999 MECHAM GTR car #001 in Oklahoma. I've seen that 1998 on Ebay. I spoke with Dennis Mecham & there were approx 20 cars made for each year 98 ,99, 00. Don't remember about 01 but he had alot of inquiries in 02 because of collectability, so a number of 02 Mechams are out there.(20?) These will be really rare in the coming years.Watch 1979 Macho TA prices for an idea how much. I'll try to get pics of mine on soon.

I own #2 Mecham TA for 2002. Last time I talked th Dennis Mecham about a year ago he told me that there were 6 Mecham TA's and only a few Formulas made in 2002. As for 1998, I think there were 14 cars done. I know the owner of '98 #14 and he claims his was the last for the year. See my car at:
