It's a real WU6 code car.
Stolen, then recoverd, then rebuilt, ..., crappy job, ...
And speaking of crap, ..., they are. (Texas Toys.)

I can't believe It...I called SLP with the vin on that car because I wanted to burn those guys, but it is in fact a 1999 Firehawk with only one option chrome wheels (wich are missing ) and the build number is #419.my guess it must be a stripped repo from the auction

but that CE WS6 they are selling has to be fake!!

*Read the threads linked above, ...*

The CE is real also. Just a real crappy job of rebuilding it, ...
9 times out of ten when they list a Trans AM 'WS6' 'Ram Air' car, it's a regular T/A with an aftermarket hood. False advertising in my opinion as they are trying to say their new hood is better than the factory WS6 hood, ...

The value of a T/A with an aftermarket hood is not the same value as a real WS6 car. And they should not present it as so.

Looking at my sticker from '99 it was a $3,150.00 option.

And we should turn them in to eBay for selling poor replicas/rebuilds as real.

they are defintely the wrong rims...those are 16", and its supposed to have 17" rims. Why pay out the nose for just a Firehawk hood? Whatta ripoff. (previous 10th anniversary 2001 Firehawk T/A owner)

does this look like a true ss to you guys? I don't know but I thought all ss's had leather, and MOST had t-tops at least...if this is a tue ss, it must be pretty rare with no t-tops. I sent him an email and asked him to take pics of the drivers side door with all of the rpo codes 2 days ago and no answer....fishy huh?

Well, not hugely rare... there were 79 hardtops in 1998 (17% of SS production), 810 hardtops in 1999 (17%), 1085 hardtops in 2000 (12%), and 639 hardtops in 2001 (10%). (don't know the 2002 numbers)

It's yet another of their "has some title challenges" cars, i.e. bad wreck or theft-recovery.

I'm not totally sure whether all SS cars had leather or not, but if they did all originally have it and if this is an SS, I wouldn't be surprised if this one had the original seats removed (damaged or stolen), and they were replaced with the cheapest option available (cloth seats) in typical TexasToys fashion.

Still doesn't look right to be a real Firehawk...that hood doesn't look right. That center piece in between the nostrils doesn't line up right...all the Firehawk's I've seen..it meets flush with the bumper...it doesn't sit on top. The aftermarket hoods sit on top like that. Plus the Firehawks have the little badge on the front bumper in the center just below where the bumper meets the hood. I don't know about previous years..but my 02 has the heat extractors on the sides of the hood...I don't seem them on that hood..but I'm not sure if all the previous years had the heat extractors.

Also, I can't tell for sure from the picture...but that lower airbox looks like the taller version that's on the WS6's (the opening looks rather large). The firehawks had the same lower airbox as a regular TA with the smaller opening. Not to mention a clip is missing from the airlid.

What catback did the Firehawks have that didn't get the optioned exhaust? I've never paid enough attention to them to know if that exhaust is even close to being right.

The moulding is missing from the doors....

While it may be a realy Firehawk by VIN...there's certainly been a lot of things replaced...wheels, hood..which leads me to think bumper too because the firehawks have a slightly different front bumper..door panels I suspect since the moulding is missing.

Now with the SS...if that car ever had leather seats and they were changed for whatever reason...so were the door panels..because the door panels are cloth too. Leather seats = leather door panels, cloth seats = cloth door panels. I don't know though if all SS's had leather..I thought they did..but I'm not 100% positive on that.

It has a raptor hood not a firehawk hood. It doesnt have the heat extractors and the front doesnt overhang at the nose like the raptor does. I have a close replica of a firehawk hood and you will notice the extractors in the pic which this one as I said doent have.

It's more than just a hood. Being a previous owner you should know that.
