Check out these prototype Firehawk headlights!!
vin 00017 stamped on the hood.
they did make cars in 98 but no wu6 codes to be called actual firehawks. not sure how many but a handful.
I bought the hood from slp at the time did not know it was a 98 hood.
Post em up. (To clarify what has become a confusing situation for certain enthusiasts, SLP Engineering, Inc. did not produce 1998 model year Firehawks at its Montreal, Quebec, Canada production facilities.
SLP did however add Firehawk content to 6 1998 model Trans Ams and Formulas. That work was performed at our Troy, Michigan facility. The 6 vehicles were purchased locally from Pontiac/GMC dealers, converted in Troy, then used for 1998/9 model year marketing and sales activities.
In addition, it should be noted these vehicles do NOT contain the GM RPO WU6 option code. While these vehicles do contain Firehawk content, they are NOT considered production Firehawks by SLP.

Having an 02 hawk I changed hoods and saw they stamp the FH# on all the hoods mine was on the part under the hood prop brackets.
This one was stamepd under the hood latch area. This hood has more meat to the front of the hood in the lip area. I'm not sure you will be able to see the diffrence in the pictures but i'll give it a shot. Also when I went to upload it said my pictures were to big. not sure how else to post these.
Hey you can fly up here and I can show you the hood I "SAY" I have.....
Why would I make this up??? if I didn't have 2 of these hoods next to each other I would not have known the differance but when Mr. Hamburg said there was a diffrence and they had all been trashed I thought I would look and there was a diffrence.
I drove to mich to pick these hoods and a bunch of wheels that I bought up and they were cleaning house. I can take pictures of the wheels ss badges and all the other things i bought at the same time.
The hood I have is white and looks to be pre production do to the paint finish.
I'll see if I can get this confirmed with Dave seeing that is who I bought them from.

01SSDRVR - The owner of those headlights in the one who owned the shop that put your SS together. Why would you want to beat him. He is the one who had the contract between GM to do the Hawks and SS's of our year models. If I have something to sell to some person for a heafty price I would sell it and then go shopping...

If these 3 hoods, one is still in possesion of a former SLP administration, one was destroyed, & one outer skin in Montreal.
Quote by 'the man' himself, ...
"There were only 3 hoods, one was destroyed, the other topskin is hanging on an office wall in Montreal and I have the 3rd. If the hood in question is identical to any other Firehawk hood, then it is not a '98 hood.
In order to accomodate the encapsulated headlamps, there was about about 3 inches of additional material at the headlamp area of the '98 hood. There is no way a true 98 hood would work on an actual popup headlight Firehawk.
I know the hood he is speaking of, it is a '98 production hood for the '99 cars. Remember, '99 production started in August of 1998."
98 Gold Formula, please measure along the outer edge of the prototype Firehawk hood you have there & let us know what the number is from the cowl to the headlight corner.
